Point Stormy Guide
Recommended CO: Anybody except Kanbei
Opponents: Olaf
Speed Requirement: 15 Days
Points: 300pt S-rank
Days: 10+
General Strategy: Unfortunately, a perfect S-rank is a gamble. The more
units Olaf sends to the eastern front, the lower your score will probably
end up. I suggest saving on Day 6 and gauge how many units Olaf ends up
sending to defend his HQ. Sometimes, he only sends one. Other times, he
sends as many as six, making a perfect S-rank all but impossible. In any
case, the basic strategy is to deploy APCs and Infantry in order to secure
the eastern front as soon as possible. Use the properties you capture to
build powerful units to escort a loaded and unloaded APC to the HQ. The
aforementioned powerful units should also be used to secure your power
score.
Day 1:
– Build an APC from easternmost base.
– Build two Infantry from remaining eastern bases.
Day 2:
– Load southern Infantry into APC and move APC 1N 5E and drop Infantry east.
– Move northern Infantry 3E.
– Build an APC from easternmost base.
– Build two Infantry from remaining eastern bases.
Day 3:
– Move easternmost Infantry 3E.
– Load easternmost APC with next easternmost infantry and move APC 1S 5E and
drop Infantry east.
– Load southern Infantry into APC and move APC 1N 5E and drop Infantry east.
– Move northern Infantry 3E.
– Build Infantry in westernmost base.
– Build infantry in northeastern base.
Day 4:
– Move westernmost Infantry 3W and capture neutral city.
– Move northeastern Infantry on base 3N and capture neutral city.
– Move easternmost Infantry 1S 3W and capture neutral base.
– Load next easternmost Infantry into APC and move APC 2E 4S and drop
Infantry south.
– Move next easternmost Infantry 1E and capture neutral city.
– Load Infantry into APC and move APC 1S 5E.
Day 5:
– Finish capturing all properties.
– Move southernmost Infantry 3S and capture neutral airport.
– Move southernmost APC 4S 1W and supply Infantry from the west.
– Move loaded APC 2E 4S and drop Infantry north.
– Build Infantry in westernmost base.
Day 6:
– Enemy tank cannot advance farther than the two captured cities southwest
of the enemy HQ.
– Finish capturing neutral airport.
– Join healthy Infantry with wounded westernmost Infantry.
– Build Infantry in westernmost base.
– Build Anti-air in northwestern base.
– Move northernmost Infantry 1E and capture neutral city.
– Move next westernmost Infantry 1E and capture neutral city.
– Move next westernmost Infantry 1S 1W and capture neutral city.
– Move remaining Infantry 3S and begin capturing neutral base.
– Move southernmost APC 1S 1W.
– Move remaining APC 4S 1W.
Day 7:
– Save here.
– Join healthy Infantry with wounded Infantry.
– Build Infantry in southwestern base.
– Finish capturing all properties.
– Load airport Infantry into APC.
– Build Bomber in airport.
At this point, the enemy AI moves too erratically to provide a concrete
day-to-day walkthrough, as I mentioned earlier. Follow the guidelines below
to help your chances of a perfect S-rank.
Play ahead and see how many units Olaf sends to his HQ. If it’s more than
you can handle, restart the map; it’s unlikely you will be able to capture
the HQ safely, unless you’re Sami.
The best case scenario is Olaf sends one unit: a Tank or a Recon. Two units
are manageable, but you’ll probably be forced to delay the capture in order
to secure the safety of your Infantry. Any more is usually trouble.
On Day 8, Olaf MUST build a Fighter at his westernmost airport. If he
builds in the airports near his HQ, your perfect S-rank will be difficult to
obtain now.
Avoid destroying the B-copter until you can destroy 3 units in one day
(including the B-copter). Sometimes, you can get away with destroying 2
units in one day; check the Intel screen to make sure.
Advance APCs as far as you can towards Olaf’s HQ each day while staying out
of enemy range.
The units you build are at your discretion, but I suggest building B-copters
and Recons to help your power score. Remember that these units are likely
to be too far from defending the capturing Infantry.
Keep the Bomber healthy. It helps ensures your power score.
