General Comments
The basic all purpose foot soldier. It is capable of capturing property at a rate of 1 Capture point per HP. Not too much else to say. Capable of firing on most units with the Machine Gun for weak damage.

General Comments
Super Famicom Wars’ Mech Unit. Well armed against a wide variety of troops and can do decent damage. Weak defence means that these units won’t live very long, however. Not too manoeuvrable and is slowed down quite significantly over mountains. Useful when the basic infantry just aren’t packing enough of a punch.

General Comments
The lightest Tank. Boasts superior firepower and mobility compared to Bazooka Infantry while being more expensive. Solid early game all around attackers with plenty of ammunition for it’s main weapon.

General Comments
A low cost vehicle killer. Has excellent firepower against all light vehicles and a powerful machine gun to take on Infantry. High ammo capacity for it’s price, coupled with decent mobility make this a very versatile basic tank.

General Comments
A high powered killing machine with excellent defence. It’s tank cannon is highly capable against basically all ground troops. The only drawbacks are the very low movement and small ammo capacity.

General Comments
This unit can also be called the ‘Neotank’. It is SFW’s equivalent of our spidery friends in the Advance Series. It possesses top of the line firepower, superior to even the heavy tank with none of the drawbacks of ammo and movement. Unfortunately, the only way to acquire one of these beasts is to capture a Research Laboratory that appears on “New 2P” and some 4P maps. When you do, you lose the capturing Infantry/Mech and they’re transformed into a full health Prototype Tank.

General Comments
The Basic indirect unit. Slow, fragile and a moderate amount of ammo. When used well are a godsend, as they won’t take counterattack damage, which is a lot more severe than in the advance games. Decent overall unit.

General Comments
The artillery’s big brother. Does about 5-10% more damage to all targets, and has a much increased firing range. Useful at any close up chokepoints. Lacks mobility compared to Artillery, especially as being on tyres, it’s not capable of crossing forests.

General Comments
Probably the most unique unit in the entire Wars series. The Train is a complete powerhouse, having both ranged and direct attacks, monstrous movement and the capability to load and drop off two ground units when at Train Stations. The biggest drawback for this unit is it’s hefty price and the fact that you’re only allowed to have one on the field at a time. It only appears on “New 2P” and some of the 4P Maps. A powerful, versatile and unique unit.

General Comments
A quirky little unit. This thing is a powerful, short ranged Missile-like unit. Like it’s big brother, it’s not the most mobile unit, but it delivers a lot of pain to airborne troops. Very cheap and quite effective with a minimal blind spot means that these units are a mainstay at chokepoints when you’re being harassed by copters and planes.

General Comments
The classic missile unit that everyone’s familiar with. One of the most effective ways of destroying airborne troops in SFW, these units can often be quite hard to use. Excellent in dealing horrendous damage to any air troops your opponent can muster. Covering a wide area of attack, and being very cumbersome, they need to be protected, but used well they will serve you well.

General Comments
The shining beacon of Fog of War combat. These are the traditional recons. Sporting high movement, impressive vision and a large fuel tank, these make excellent scouts. Their main uses are providing vision to your heavier troops and harassing infantry. Their weak machine guns won’t allow you to do much damage to anything but the lightest of enemy troops, but the usefulness of these units cannot be denied.

General Comments
Despite this unit being called an ‘Anti-Air’, it’s not actually that good against air targets. It makes up for it, however with its horrendously powerful Vulcan machine gun. The Vulcan will quite literally rip through lightly armoured targets with ease. Being fairly mobile, its a prime threat to any indirect or soldier unit. It still rips up copters quite well, but it isn’t the best choice to consider when you’re faced with Planes.

General Comments
This unit is used for the shuttling of your Infantry units. It can hold 1 Infantry or Bazooka Infantry unit at a time. APCs are very useful early game as they’re the units that will get your troops to key properties as soon as possible, as well as with their decently powerful machine gun, be able to protect them from marauding enemy troops. A slightly odd unit to use, but one that is essential to any campaign, especially as you can only create fresh troops from your home base area.

General Comments
Your basic support unit. Capable of supplying land and copter units with fuel and ammunition..for a price. This unit is essential to any long campaign. It’s main use is to replenish front line troops that have seen a lot of action and need more supplies. With 8 Movement, its very quick at getting to where it needs to go, most of the time, but without roads its a very slow unit and can’t even go through forests at all. They also have the defense of a soggy pancake. The weakest, most ineffectual units will cause massive amounts of damage to a supply truck. It should be protected at all times, but it is a very vital unit in land campaigns.

General Comments
Expensive, fast and powerful. The Fighter munches through air units like its nobody’s business. Quite possibly the best counter against Assault Fighters and Bombers, its a vital unit for protecting your units from air assaults. Even when out of ammunition, the Machine guns can quite easily put a serious dent in copters. The only disadvantages to this wondrous unit is that it burns five fuel at the start of the day every day and can only be resupplied at an airport. This means that you’ve got to retreat them a few days in advance to make sure that the fuel tank is kept topped up. Otherwise, they’ll crash and burn, leaving you without any protection.

General Comments
These things are quite literally a menace. Inflicting horrible damage to all ground troops, and fairly large amounts of damage to naval troops, Bombers are to be feared. Having tons of ammunition and a fairly nice fuel tank, they’re perfect for taking out entrenched enemy units. However, they’re completely helpless against Air units. A single Fighter or Assault Plane can take them out with ease. Not to mention that they suffer from the same fuel problems as all planes. Make sure to refuel them before its too late.

General Comments
Being able to attack all things apart from subs, you would think that this unit is wonderful. And it can be. It does come at a price though. It has a very mediocre amount of damage against all targets and has a very prohibitive cost. Its very versatile, but that is about it. It can be quite easily taken out with lots of basic anti-air troops and the like. This means that while it can do everything, it does nothing particularly well. As such, its a great support troop, but spamming them is a recipe for disaster.

General Comments
A very basic, cheap and versatile units. Can attack all units apart from planes and submarines for okay damage, and can be easily refuelled and rearmed while in flight, because its a copter instead of a plane. Very useful units, but they are vulnerable to attrition by counterattacks. They’re a great support unit though, for a fairly discount price.

General Comments
The transport of the skies. Capable of loading one infantry or bazooka infantry unit. They can be loaded and unloaded when the transport copter is on urban terrain, roads and plains. It’s useful for scurrying Infantry troops where they normally couldn’t reach with any degree of ease. A little pricey for their job, but they are absolutely essential on winning some maps. Being a copter, they can also be refuelled by supply trucks, unlike planes.

General Comments
The priciest unit in the game, and a floating fortress. This unit inflicts damage at huge range on just about anything with its main cannon and is still capable of finishing off troops with it’s machine guns when moving about. Highly dangerous to everything except subs. You need subs to deal with this monster of a unit. Well worthwhile in any naval conflict.

General Comments
The Cruiser is capable of transporting two Battle or Transport copters. A very weird unit, all things considered. It can only attack 3 units, and it’s main purpose in life is to destroy Subs, which are deadly to your battleships and landers. Nonetheless, it is a fantastic scout in Fog of War, plus it is quite good at harassing T-Copters. A unit to use as you need them.

The Naval Transport. Capable of loading and transporting 2 ground units which can be loaded and unloaded from shoals and ports. Slow, blind and weak defensively, this unit needs an escort to deliver it’s load. Vital for any island map campaign.

General Comments
The Submarine can only be seen in Fog of War if a unit is next to it. When not in Fog of War, the Sub can always be seen. This unit is mainly used to take out battleships and landers. It is also a good scout in Fog of War, because you need to be adjacent to it to see it. Not too much else to say about them apart from ‘watch out for cruisers.’
